Hello - and thanks.
Hi. First, thanks for all the attention on the site, it got featured in a lot of places, and hopefully raised awareness that a lot of this looting wasn’t just ‘riots organised by social media’, or ‘12-13 year olds looting’, or even ‘a protest’. That was a good thing, so thanks.
But now - what next? We can’t name people on this site because of a photo. And a lot of photos I’m getting through now could mean anything; a lot of the more obvious photos are gone. At first it was one city, and collecting the disparate photos made sense. Now it’s up and down the UK; there are loads of photos and I can barely keep up. Plus Twitter is doing a remarkable job of highlighting all these things itself now anyway, and I’m glad to have been a tiny part of that, and hopefully to provide a very small focus for some it.
So I’m going to stop updating the site, but leave it online for a while.
For any new things please, please, please send to Crimestoppers. You can submit screengrabs online, it’s anonymous, and it’ll go to the right people. That makes more sense now than keep adding on here.
Also - tag it #catchalooter. That way all information will be kept in one place on Twitter.
I know - barely a day old and I’m calling it quits. Pussy. But I want it to be what’s right, not what’s an ego boost for me to be doing this. And I think what’s right is to direct this attention to Crimestoppers.
The beauty of social media is you can put these things up quickly, and take them down again too, without any cost. Not so easy with buildings, lives and businesses. I hope things calm down soon, people need to get a grip; there’s no excuse for this behaviour. There are however reasons, and these underlying reasons need to be looked at by the Police, the Government and the Communities.
Take it easy
Thanks again.

Kommentar:
